Why phone games work at a bar
- Nothing to set up and nothing to spill a drink on.
- Everyone reads the screen, so nobody has to shout the rules over the music.
- One phone is enough. Pass it along the table.
- Turns are short, so people can wander to the bar and come back.
Party games for the bar
Spot the Fib: everyone writes two true facts, the AI adds one fib, and the table guesses the fake. Great for a group where not everyone knows each other. 3 to 10 players, free for up to 3.
Wild Card: a fill in the blank card game. The funniest answer wins the round. Cheeky, never crude. 3 to 8 players.
Most Likely: "who's most likely to" questions about your table. On three, everyone points. Best with old friends.
In Sync: for two people at the bar. You both answer the same question in secret, then reveal together. Free.
Bar games that need nothing at all
- Categories: pick a topic, like beers, cities or films. Go round the table. Whoever can't name a new one in five seconds loses the round.
- Never have I ever: say something you've never done. Anyone who has done it puts a finger down. Last one with fingers up wins.
- Spoof: everyone hides zero to three coins in a fist. Take turns guessing the total on the table. Guess right and you drop out, safe. The last player left loses.
- Beer mat flip: rest a beer mat on the edge of the table, flick it up from underneath and catch it. Then try two, then three.
- Twenty questions: one person thinks of someone famous. The table has 20 yes or no questions to name them.
Playing it as a drinking game
Some groups add a house rule, like "if your fib fools nobody, take a sip". If you do, keep it to sips, keep water on the table, and let anyone play with a soft drink. The games work just the same with no alcohol at all.
